Fluorescent Bulb RecyclingFluorescent bulb recycling at all MOSA transfer stations is available every day for residents at a current cost of $0.40/Bulb. Fluorescent tubes, compact fluorescents and High-Intensity Discharge (HID) bulbs (including mercury vapor, high pressure sodium and metal halide) all contain mercury. It is illegal to dispose of fluorescent and HID lamps in the trash. Intact, end-of-life mercury containing bulbs must be recycled. Place bulbs in a box similar to the one they were received in, or in a specially manufactured container for recycling. Compact, Biax, Halogen, Projector, UV Fluorescent-Germicidal and Incadescent bulbs can be wrapped in newspaper and placed in any sturdy box. High-Intensity Discharge (HID) bulbs can be very fragile and should be packed in a way that assures no damage will occur (the original box is best). |
