Battery Recycling

Rechargeable Batteries

Battery recycling at all MOSA transfer stations is available *FREE OF CHARGE* every day for residents for the following types of rechargeable batteries (bring in individually wrapped):

Nickel Cadmium (Ni-cad) (typically found in cordless power tools, cell phones, laptops, camcorders)
Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) (typically found in cordless power tools, cell phones, laptops, camcorders)
Lithium (typically found in small electronic devices)
Lithium Ion (typically found in small electronic devices, laptops)
Button Cells (typically found in small electronic devices)
Lead Acid Gel (Power Supplies (UPS))

Alkaline Batteries (AA, AAA, C & D)

Since January 1992, many Alkaline batteries are manufactured with "no mercury added". These types of batteries (your typical household AA, AAA, C & D batteries) are classified by the federal government as non-hazardous waste and safe for disposal with your regular household trash.

Car Batteries (Sealed Lead Acid Battery)

Car batteries may be returned to any location that sells them, regardless of whether you bought it there or not.
